First 4 lines, Norway Railways; last line Saudi & Aitutaki
A recent auction sale of Scandinavian cinderellas / locals, including several superb lots with railway material, fetched fabulous prices. We only managed to acquire one of the lots we wanted to buy and had to pay about FOUR times what we anticipated paying. These Norwegian railway stamps are a few stamps from that auction lot, the prices necessarily reflecting what we had to pay.

£ 30.01 : Silver Yuan issue of 1949 handstamped with two chinese characters for local used in Fukien
£ 31.99 : The second value from the c.1909 Peking to Hankow Railway set (listed in Forbin). Five values in French currency, though the Chinese Govt. took over the railway on completion and the stamps do not appear ever to have been used. Extremely rare set. To our knowledge, no full set has recently been offered but the set might perhaps fetch between two and four thousand pounds at auction in the current China market. Condition of these stamps is rarely very good; this one is dreadful, hence the low price, but at elast the locomotive is all there. Values are : 0f10, 0f20, 0f30, 0f40 & 2f00.
